Meend, a bansuri riyaz companion · last updated 14 October 2026
Meend is made by Noviem Tech (OPC) Private Limited, in India (“we” below). This is what it keeps, where, and why.
Your microphone
Meend listens through the microphone only while you have tapped Start riyaz (or Continue riyaz) or Record, or Listen (or Play along) on one of the Tools. What it hears is worked out on your device (which note, whether it's your flute) and is never sent anywhere; nothing a tool hears is kept. A recording stays on your device unless it is an item's reference recording and you hold Pro Cloud, or you send it to someone in your circle (below).
On Free and Pro
Everything Meend keeps (your riyaz items, practice time, settings, recordings and attachments) stays in this app or browser on this device. Nothing is sent to us. Clearing the app's or browser's data removes it; Settings → Export saves a copy as a file you keep. A phone's own backup (iCloud, Google) may keep a copy of the app's settings and riyaz with your Apple or Google account, as it does for any app.
Signing in
Signing in is optional, and needs no plan: it is for your circle (below). It keeps your email address, to sign you in with a one-time code, and nothing of your practice.
With Pro Cloud
Pro Cloud keeps your practice in step across your devices, so we then store:
- your email address, to sign you in with a one-time code;
- your riyaz items, practice time per day, long-note records, rewards and the settings that are yours (your Sa, tempo and taal; not your microphone's levels, which belong to one device);
- each item's reference recording, if you have made one;
- the photo or PDF attached to an item, if you have attached one.
It is kept with Supabase, in its Mumbai (India) region, readable only by your account. We don't sell it, share it, or use it for advertising. When Pro Cloud ends, all of it is deleted 90 days later (your account and your circle stay).
Your purchases
Pro and Pro Cloud are bought through the App Store or Google Play, which take the payment: we never see your card. RevenueCat receives the store's record of what you bought, under your account's id (never your email), and tells us which plan you hold; we keep only that (Pro, and when Pro Cloud ends).
Your circle
If you add people to your circle (your teacher, friends), and they accept, you can send each other recordings. Then we also store:
- the name you give your circle; your circle, and anyone you ask, see it and your email;
- who you've asked, and who is in your circle (an ask to an address with no account waits for it to sign in; no email is sent to it);
- each recording you send, with what it was of (the riyaz and item, the raag, your Sa, the taal and tempo) and your note, readable by you and the people you sent it to;
- the replies in each recording's thread, readable by its two people only.
Someone in your circle gets an email when you send them a recording, reply to them, or ask them; each email can stop them, as can Your circle → Email me. Emails are sent through Resend. Removing a recording deletes it (its replies are kept for you both); removing someone from your circle ends their access to what you sent them. A recording can be reported from its page, and someone blocked.
What we don't do
- No advertising, no analytics or tracking, no third-party cookies.
- No audio from listening is ever uploaded.
Deleting your data
In Settings → Account → Delete account you can delete your account and everything stored with it, at once and for good: your circle, the recordings you sent and your replies in others' threads go with it. What is on your device stays until you remove it there.
Without the app, email hello@meend.app from the address you sign in with, asking for your account to be deleted: we delete it in the same way, and reply when it is done.
